Wellesley is a gorgeous town in Norfolk County that epitomizes exactly what it means to live in a upper-class neighborhood in The Greater Boston area. Met on its borders by the towns of Dover, Needham, Natick, Newton and Weston, this town is very well known for its educational system and the presence of Babson College, Wellesley College, Olin College and Massachusetts Bay Community College which all have a campus in town.

According to Boston Magazine’s yearly “Best Places To Live”, Wellesley ranked first in the United States for their percentage of adults who hold at least one college degree and the town also ranked second in the Country for “America’s Most Educated Small Towns”, the latter according to Forbes.com.

On the eastern portion of Massachusetts, the town was originally settled in the 1630s as a part of Dedham and later was actually a part of Needham but was known as West Needham. The town lives and breathes a deep history with an array of homes still existing that were built back in the 1860s. These residences, within Wellesley’s Historic District, are protected by the town’s Historic Commission. Still today important decisions in Wellesley are made when the local government holds town meetings which is a tradition that has not changed since the founding of the town.

The MBTA operates a commuter rail option for commuters living looking for alternative transportation. Only 17 miles outside of Boston, roughly 25 minutes by motor vehicle, 1-95/Route 128 and Route 9 also cross through Wellesley for those who instead commute in this efficient fashion. With roughly 28,000 inhabitants and only 10.49 square miles, the small size of the town coupled with the fact that most of the homes are of large square footages and have sizeable plots of land has led Wellesley to be known as one of the more exclusive areas to call home.

While many of the locals work in Boston, there are nonetheless a healthy grouping of leading National and Global businesses whose headquarters are in Wellesley such as Sun Life Financial (the leading employer in the town), Roche Bros., Livingston and Haynes PC, GrandBanks Capital venture capital firm, EPG Incorporated, Eagle Investment Systems, Blank Label Apparel, Benchmark Senior Living and BCC Research; and the list continues.

The town also has a large population of notable individuals such as former or current athletes, actors, writers, businessmen, musicians, and other TV personalities, detailing just how much Wellesley can be defined as a town that is home to the very fortunate.
